A native of Germany, Helga Browne-Scarlett has been living on the Monterey Peninsula for over 35 years. Her artistic expression first found an outlet when she painted as a child with her father in the German folk style known as “Bauern-Malerei”. She has been a successful working artist for over ten years and works in acrylics, mixed media, collage and metal embossing.
Her painting and art work can be found in private collections as well as public galleries throughout the United States and Europe.
After living and creating for years in Big Sur, she now calls Carmel her home. Her work is created there as well as at her studio in the Sierra Foothills. Helga’s artwork reflects her state of mind. She paints for enjoyment and is always exploring new ways to fully express her passion for the Arts. She is a member of the Big Sur Arts Initiative, the Monterey Peninsula Art Foundation, the Artist Equity Fund, the Central Coast Art Association and the National League of American Pen Women.
